Smith Chapel United Methodist Church is nestled in the beautiful countryside of southeastern Catoosa County on 4245 Stewart Road. The white frame church is surrounded by large oak trees with a small cemetery to the side. Smith Chapel was organized in 1900 after a great revival meeting conducted by the Reverend Frank Hampton. Services were held in a school building until the sanctuary was built in 1913.

We were very fortunate to have some special guests sit in with us on this session. John Pitts was present to add his rich bass vocals to When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder and Church In The Wildwood. Nancy Cardwell Erdos of the Persimmon Sisters sang beautiful harmony with Betsy and kept everyone together with her solid bass line on Grandma Please Save A Seat For Me, which she co-wrote with Tom Brown. Pam Gadd, who arguably has one of the best voices in bluegrass and country music, blessed us with her crystal clear vocals by singing lead on Church In The Wildwood.

Pam has released several wonderful CDs and her latest Benefit of Doubt has a guest roster that reads like a Who’s Who of the bluegrass and country music talent.

Music samples of Nancy Cardwell Erdos and The Persimmon Sisters can be found at the CD Baby Website -
